50s chic
This spring there’s a plethora of feminine and chic styles out there to seduce every fashion-forward shopper. Here are some of the key fashion trends for the season:

Fifties chic
When it comes to dressing with ‘to die for’ style there’s only one woman to look to: Sarah Jessica Parker. On this, the final series of Sex and the City, Carrie pulls off fifties style with aplomb. She is seen wearing romantic prom dresses by Prada and fifties floral prints by Marc Jacobs (teamed with the highest heels imaginable!). If you can’t quite afford the designer threads that Carrie sports, don’t fret because many of the high street stores are doing their own version of the look. Snuggle Up. Like it or loathe it, fur will be making a big comeback for autumn/winter 2012.

It used everywhere on collars and bolero shrugs, along with other animal materials, such as leather, or mixed with suede. Political correctness and a boycott of the use of animal products by some, has meant that fur has been out of fashion so long that designers have become unused to working with it. (more…)

Not many people admit to being plagued by ingrown hair. Not only does New York native Cindy Barshop talk about her onetime problem, it’s what motivated the former IBM marketer to start Completely Bare, her growing chain of high-tech day spas. One of the first to bring permanent light-based hair-reduction treatments to Manhattan, Barshop is now considered an expert in hair removal (doctors ask for her advice when investing in new equipment) as well as a medi-spa trend forecaster (she was an early adopter of light-based skin rejuvenation and hired an in-house dermatologist before it was de rigueur).
